Beira

Beira was born from a research project focused on design, functionality and object development conducted by Lívia Cunha Campos in 2013. Her experiments motivated her to focus specifically on the design and manufacturing of garments. This led the fashion designer to set up a studio in Rio de Janeiro, where she could gather a reliable team and the necessary tools to carefully create and build high quality pieces. This space would later become the core of the brand.

Rio de Janeiro is a continuous source of inspiration, with its complex but beautiful and resilient history. We showed our first collection in 2015 and, since then, we have expanded the business to the international market.

THE PROCESS
The word ‘beira’ (edge, in English) embodies the notion of transition or intersection. We use our designs as means of communicating the experimental processes that take place in the atelier and encourage our customers to explore our garments from the inside out, letting the sewing and exposed lines speak for themselves.

Our garments are designed with cuts and shapes that fit a variety of body types. Each item is focused on its potential usefulness and usability and not on specific gender orientation. As each new piece or color is debuted, we see it as an extension of our first collection, a story that unfolds constantly, reinforcing our language and improving the creative process of a seasonless and unified collection.

THE DESIGN

Our clothes are created with functionality and versatility in mind, balancing silhouettes and subtle but distinct details in monochromatic colors. We encourage the user to gently explore these details and try the materials on their own terms.
