Lenny Niemeyer
Lenny Niemeyer arrived in Rio de Janeiro in 1979. While searching for sophisticated bikinis with the Rio de Janeiro charm, she found out not only talent, but also a new profession. Since she could not find any bikini that met her style, she hired a seamstress and bought loads of spandex to make exactly what she was looking for. The makeshift plant in her house’s garage turned small for the output so Lenny rented a proper plant in order to meet the demand.
In 1995, after having produced bikinis for famous designer stores such as Fiorucci, Bee, Richard´s and Andrea Saletto, Lenny decided to create her own brand and opened her first shop in Ipanema. Today, she owns 19 shops in Brazil, spread across the states of Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Bahia and the Federal District, in addition to 300 points of sale at multi-brand stores.
Besides one-piece and two-piece swimwear, the brand produces bags, shoes, accessories and a collection of clothes and knits, which already represent 50% of profits and sales. Since her runway debut in 1997, the name Lenny has been synonymous with high-fashion swimwear, receiving worldwide editorial with famous models in the fashion world walking her shows like Giselle Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Isabelli Fontana, Michelle Alves, Izabel Goulart, Mariacarla Boscono and Devon Aoki.
All products are aimed at the sophisticated woman who consumes Lenny’s brand and lifestyle.
“I create glamorous looks with distinctive elements”, says Lenny. “I design for the independent, chic woman and my suits are meant to highlight their femininity, beauty and charm.”
The love of nature found in her prints reflects her previous career as a landscape architect in São Paulo.
Lenny Niemeyer has exported to countries in regions varying from Latin America to the Middle East, in addition to having representative offices in the U.S., Europe, Emirates and Japan. The brand is present in countries such as Portugal, France, England, the United States, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Venezuela, Canada, Spain and Dubai. Its products may be found in shops like Shop Bop, Neiman Marcus, Net-à-Porter, The Webster, Heidi Klein, El Corte Ingles, À toutes les Filles, Boutique Fisico and Printemps Ginza.
