Wasabi

Wasabi is a brand of women’s clothing from Rio de Janeiro that has a strong connection with the visual arts scene. It was created in 2010 and has been making partnerships with renowned visual artists for the development of its collections. The artists Ana Holck (Anita Schwartz Gallery), Gisele Camargo (Mercedes Viegas Gallery), Célia Euvaldo (Raquel Arnauld Art Cabinet), and Maria Lynch (H.A.P. Gallery) have already created exclusive brands for Wasabi. For the 2012 winter collection, Wasabi has partnered up with Lúcia Laguna (Laura Marsiaj Gallery).

Wasabi products are sold in multi-brand stores throughout Brazil and abroad, while its collections are displayed in Rio à Porter, a business fair that takes place at the same time as Fashion Rio. In 2010, Wasabi made its debut on the runways, presenting the collection “Architecture and Vanishing Points” during the Rio à Porter fashion show, which had a great repercussion in the media.

The designers Daniela Sabbag and Ana Wambier are the brand’s stylists. The name wasabi came from 1) it’s stimulating flavor (our clothes are very unique) and 2) it has a strong root (the duo Daniela Sabbag and Ana Wambier).
